Now that it’s been confirmed that there is a Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Live Action, I am also very excited for the Yotsubato movie drama.

Ok, so I was briefly fooled into believeing the Yotsubato one but it’s a good thing my fellow IRCers showed me the right path. I wish it were true, though. Look at that cast! Surely Ayase Haruka(Sekai no chuushin de) alone will bring people driving into the theaters, but then there’s also Eguchi Yosuke (Lunch Queen), Abe Hiroshi (Dragonzakura) -Japan’s equivalent of the actor who plays House-, and what looks like Ishihara Satomi, (Nurse Aoi) one of the hawtest female actresses out there… though not so hawt in that picture. She looks so much better here.

WHY MUST YOU TEMPT ME, YOU BASTARDS! WRYYYYYY?!

When I first heard about this, I didn’t know it was a tv dorama. I immediately thought of the Korean movie with the same name. The movie was nowhere near as good as the many other K-movies I’ve seen, but it’s not total garbage like… say… Shinobi. The “My Boss My Hero” that I’ll be talking about today is the J-drama. The cast is fairly decent and it’s got many laughable parts -you’ll get the title reference once you watch it… or read my dealie-.

The funniest part has to be Helen Keller connection to this drama. Let me give you a second to let it sink in if you haven’t seen or heard of this show yet…. 3… 2… 1… LAWL. HELEN KELLER. We’ve all seen the movie where the pepsi girl played Helen Keller and we all laughed when she finally said water. Dont deny, you did. Or maybe it was the South Park episode. Either way, this time, the character that’s yelling it is neither blind nor deaf, he’s just stupid. But that’s not the funny part. The funny part was that Helen Keller was the reference used on the stupid guy to get him to FEEL BETTER. “You say you dislike school and you’re frustrated? Pretend you’re like Helen Keller!”

But oh no. The fun does not stop there. (Read More »»»)

Yeah, well, ignore the title, that’s all I got for ya. Sapuri which means “supplement” was recommended to me by Hinano and I thank her deeply for this’ll get me back in the dorama watching groove. Lately it’s been clearing the backlog of anime and watching j and k-movies, but this, this is my savior. Plus, it’s based on a manga, too!

Not only is the story on the interesting side and it’s not going to be horribly boring at times with the driving point of this dorama for me being the cast. Simply amazing. Like Kurosagi, I was recommended to watch because of the similarity in cast to Nobuta Wo Produce ( it had YamaPi and Horikita Maki) and I went into it with high expectations. But unlike Kurosagi, I left satisfied. HERMEEEEEEEEES~ (Read More »»»)

Based off the manga, this is a story about a girl who is into lolita fashion, but lives way out in rural middle-of-nowhere with her loser dad and one eyed grandmother. After tricking her dad out of so much money to get her clothes, she’s decides to help out a bit and sell some fake clothing. That’s when she meets Ichiko, a yankee gang member. Their relationship starts out a bit rough at first, but pretty soon, they discover a whole other side of themselves and a bond is formed.

Never did I think I’d be so attracted to a Yankee Thug and a Lolita… but I was wrong. Dead Wrong. I guess it’s just natural when the Lolita’s played by Kyoko Fukada and the Yankee is played byAnna Tsuchiya, though, right? Wait. The fun doesn’t stop there, either. The rest of the cast was wonderful, too… but I’ll get to them after the break. (Read More »»»)

Before I posted this, I was seriously having an internal battle on whether to post this or not. Hope this isn’t offensive to anyone.

So is this a live action Love Hina? Not quite. In anime terms, it’s more along the lines of a hentai than a shoujo. From what I’ve read, some -or all- of the women actresses are “AV idols” so it all makes sense, really. They’re acting… but it’s not really good acting. Essentially, what this is, is a show for males with a little bit of *unoriginal* story thrown in for extra measure. Places where it should be a bit cute… fails. Yet it does win in the comedy category. It’s so bad, you can’t help but laugh. I dont recommend this, but if you do watch it, you’ll understand where I’m coming from.

At times you think they throw in fanservice-y scenes just for the hell of it. Consider this my helpful act for the community. Do not waste your time with this. (Read More »»»)

Watching this on a recommendation, I was pretty dissapointed, sad to say. Truthfully, I went into this show not expecting much because the story sounds kinda lame, but seeing as the two main stars are from Nobuta Wo Produce, I was sure something with both of them would be awesome. Ehh….

As much as I enjoyed Yamashita Tomohisa in his other roles -especially Akira in Nobuta-, he acted… well, “too cool” in this show. So “cool” in fact that he began to look very lame -Akira Shock-. Plus that bang he has between his eyes caught my attention more than the story itself at times. The other actor at hand, Horikita Maki, had to play the annoying justice girl in this episode so I cant blame her for her character. She’s still cute, though, so point for her. And since I’m going through the cast my biggest and happiest surprise was seeing Aikawa Sho. This man is so awesome. Hint: Kisarazu.

Ok, so the story: Kurosaki’s dad was swindled so bad -by bad men named Shirosagi- that when he came home one day, his dad had killed everyone and was about to kill himself when he saw Kurosaki and attacked. Kurosaki survived but his father didn’t. When Kurosaki learns that his dad was swindled, he takes it upon himself to swindle other Shirosagi’s. And since his name is Kurosaki, thus “Kurosagi” is born. What’s ironic is that the the place he gets his info from is from the Shirosagi that swindled his father. It has potential, but it’s borderline lame. I might give episode 2 the benefit of the doubt and try that out, but so far, dissapointment.

Kisarazu… Cats! Nya! Cats! Nya! Cats! NYA~~~! I appologize, I really just wanted to type that.

The reason I decided to watch this show was in preparation of the Honey and Clover Live Action in which Sakurai Shou will play Takemoto. But as every good dorama viewer knows, you cant just randomly choose a show and watch it no matter how much star power it has -aka Kou Kou Kyoushi starring Aya Ueto-.

So naturally, the first place you go is either dramawiki or jdorama -duh-. Seeing as it’s more natural for me to type in jdorama.com, that’s where I went. Jdorama gives you a little synopsis along the lines of “Baseball player Kohei learns he has cancer and asks his five friends to performs crimes with him. With six months left, how much could they do anyway”. With a synopsis that sounds like this…. it sounds borderline between good and uninteresting, right? (Read More »»»)

Ha ha ha ha, this must really be a joke. Maybe it’s like Excel Saga where it’s mostly meant for the native people to enjoy. For me, the best moments of the show was when I was able to look at the hot girl kick some ass. I dunno what to do for you ladies, I got nothing.

Oh wait. I was wrong. I also had great enjoyment recognizing one actor. The guy that played Kamiyama in the Cromartie High School Live action had a role as a priest who loses his bible, flips out, kicks some ass, transforms into another guy -who ultimately loses- and transforms back only to continue preaching gibberish.

And hey, I just recaped about half the story for you, right there -The other half is: the main character loses her memory, gets into a battle of the gang, loses blood to an emo chick, and is ultimately still confused-. Sadly enough, Kamiyama… errr, the Priest is not the main character. Its actually a girl…errr guy… errr girl… well, the point is: while all physical signs points to her being a she, she is called a he, so… either I’m very sexually confused… or it’s going to be a mistake everyone’ll make. I don’t know, but I pray its the latter.
