Hahaha, oh wow. How can I follow up on Os’s room entry? I mean, damn. Frilly curtains, hello kitty stuffed animal and beanie. Whew… Well I hate to disapoint the lot of you looking for a good laugh if Os got your hopes up but my rooms a bit not-so-feminine.

The deal with my Room is that, at first glance, it’s not really the room you would expect of someone who writes on an aniblog. It’s more or less just your typical college students room, well, a bit neater than a typical college students room. But if you look close enough, beneath the surface you’ll see some tell tale signs of an Otaku living there. I’m gonna one up Os on this entry and include pictures of my room and if you click on them you can see them in a nice High resolution.

So we at Karoshi have been planning on doing this for a while now, but because of various reasons, we did not get off our asses and do it until today. We wanted to do it when there were other singaporeans bloggers who did it… but eh (there were two more places but I dont remember who, my appologies). Le Portrait de Petit Cossette. I don’t know why But I had never watched it up until yesterday afternoon. A number of people had told me to check it out, for like, a year, it was on a Recommended Viewing tab at Anime News Network. Yet I never bothered to look into it that much. I feel a bit foolish for waiting all this time. Just the other day I found myself at Suncoast Video for the first time in about a year. After sifting through a literal maze of pocky and Naruto headbands I came up on the anime section. Now, The reason why I ventured into such a hell hole like Suncoast was simple, I had a $25 gift certificate from Christmas, and I figured I would buy 1 DVD with it, or at least pay off most of one, considering the amount of price gouging that Suncoast does. Seriously, why do people shop there? Oh right, they don’t know any better.

To my surprise though I saw a big sign there that said “ALL GENEON TITLES: BUY ONE GET ONE FREE” I figured, hell yeah score, I could get two DVD’s for free or very near it now. Five minutes later after sifting through the Geneon section I realized that they almost only license shoujo and shit. Seriously, god damn. Then down towards the bottom shined a light, and that light was the Hellsing Ultimate OVA and Le Portrait de Petit Cossette. I had decided that I wanted to try out Cossette and I knew Hellsing’s OVA was awesome, so my purchase was made, after much arguing with the clerk that I did NOT want to order Naruto’s next DVD and that I wanted him to die. Later on in the day I popped in Cossette’s DVD and got down to business.

So it’s Mine’s turn to shine… I guess.

It may just be me, but the way the episode opened with Mine mimicking Chiaki’s entrance the previous episode made me really lawl. I’m not quite sure why, but I’m guessing it’s because of the dorama. Seeing as it’s already finished, I know who Mine really is and I’ve already established his character in my mind. So just seeing him act like Chiaki was funny becuase we all know that in the end, he sucks too -at first anyway-.

What really surprised me about the animated version of Mine is his hair. Usually it’s the live action adaptations that just cannot do animated hair well yet this time, I think Mine’s hair in the dorama is much cooler. It’s supposed to be wild and big, but in the anime, he’s sort of got a buzz cut going. Not wild at all. I’m greatly dissapointed. (Read More »»»)

As I barely begin this post, I’m already thinking of stopping and going back to rewatch it. Dont misunderstand, this movie was not the best movie I’ve ever seen -unfortunately- but it was still good enough. I’ve been hyping up this moment for myself ever since I heard about it so I’m pretty damn surprised at how I approached this movie with an open mind rather than in rabid fangirlboy mode. When I watched Hana Yori Dango S2 and the Prince of Tennis movie, I hyped myself up so much, anything they spewed at me, I would’ve loved even if it was total crap.

There’s just something different about Honey and Clover. Not a bad thing, but something. Either way, I still liked it and I’m probably going to actually pay to go get myself the legit version. But seeing as it’s a live action adaptation, there was destined to be some dissapointments, right? (Read More »»»)

Yeah okay. No surprise here that I picked this up because of the Shoujo Beat logo on the spine. If it wasn’t for that, I’m sure I would’ve passed it by -you know, when you look through the book shelves, you tend to easily skip stuff in the beginning and at the end-.

Either way, after reading this, I’ve decided I want to become… a barber. Yeah. Then I can make “magic”, too… We all can dream right? I always thought becoming a barber would be a really cool job, so later on in life, if all doesn’t go according to plan, I’ll become one. But for now, I’ll have to live it out through Beauty Pop.

Beauty Pop was a surprise. The cover of Kiri wasn’t too appealing at first, but after turning to the back cover to see a sorta-chibi-esque Kiri, I decided to give it a try. It later turns out, that the character designs for the most part are quite pleasing to the eye. Thinking about it now, it is a typical shoujo-esque style, but nothing wrong with that. It’s not as strong as say, Ai Yazawa’s -I’m sure some people understood that part-.
